Technology and Innovation Training Session

November 6, 2017 - November 11, 2017

This training session will introduce relevant Canadian best practices on MSME business development in the area of technology and innovation to MSMEs in APEC developing economies, focusing on Vietnam. The training session will be held in Da Nang, Vietnam in the margins of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week from that will convene leaders, businesses and high-level dignitaries from the 21 APEC economies. Delivered in English and Vietnamese, the training session will deliver content largely based on the “Technology and Innovation Training Session” developed by DISED. Specific topics that will be covered can range from guiding traditional businesses in using e-commerce and m-commerce platforms, to helping budding entrepreneurs transform groundbreaking technological ideas into successful start-ups.

APEC-Canada Growing Business Partnership Symposium on Innovative and Dynamic Startups and MSMEs

September 11, 2017

The one-day workshop will be held in Ho Chi Minh City. Planned in the margins of the APEC Ministerial Meetings, which run from September 11-15, the symposium is focused on sharing the expertise of the institutions educating young entrepreneurs, the leaders of incubators and the companies they have banked on, the investors who are growing the sector and the regulators who are trying to keep pace. Every year, the SME Ministerial Meetings are held to discuss the role and importance of MSMES, the direction of policy-making, fostering MSME growth and recommendations for APEC action. The symposium will offer fresh insights to the perspectives of the Ministers and representatives, and will seek to foster cross-border collaborations throughout the region.

ABACx: The APEC-Canada Growing Business Partnership Symposium on Technology and Innovation

This one-day symposium was held July 25, 2017 in the margins of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) III meeting which ran from July 26-28 in Toronto. ABAC is the private sector arm of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and comprises a wide array of business leaders from the 21 APEC economies.
